Scout Hike

On Sunday, March 13th, the webelos were going on a three mile hike for one of their adventures.

The boys making their trail mix for the road.  AJ is in the van making sure everything is done right.  :-)

AJ chatting with his scout friends before the hike.

While we were waiting, what do the boys go and look for?!?  Of course sticks.  You have to have sticks!!!

The parents having a good chuckle before the hike.

Giving everybody the pre-hike talk, as you can see all the boys have sticks now!!

And they are off!!!  They took off fast and we were wondering if there were going to be able to keep up that pace the whole hike.  They really did, it was crazy.

Michael and  David having a great chat as we are heading up the mountain.

Michael decided that he didn't want to  be in back anymore and was working on catching up with his brother.

Here the trail was getting a little steeper and narrower.

We made it to the top!!!!  It was snack and water break!

Michael enjoying being able to sit down for a little bit.

AJ decided that he wanted to whittle his walking stick so it would be the right size.

Michael heading off into the woods - will we ever see him again?!?

There he is!!!!

David and I enjoying the day also!!!

At the top there is a geo cache, so he is giving them a little clue about where it might be.

The motley crew that hiked up!

And they were off to find the "treasure."

All the boys seeing what is inside the box.

The four of us at the top!!!  I am the only one without a stick and not sure how that happened.  :-)

Michael always taking the high road!!!

And we are heading down the hill.  It was a beautiful day for a hike and we all had a wonderful time doing it!!!!

Heading home and bowling

On Sunday, David had a meeting in the morning so I took advantage of that and went for a run.

It was such a beautiful morning and I am so glad I went out for a run!!  After that we got back in the car for our drive back home.  It was a fantastic weekend!!!

While we were driving, the boys headed to the bowling alley to have some fun!

AJ going for that strike!!!

Michael trying to get that strike as well!!!

And of course what is bowling without bowling alley food!!!

While they were there, the bowling alley went to cosmic bowling.

Michael having a great time and dancing away!!!  I am not sure who had more fun over the weekend, the boys or us.  Thankfully it was a great weekend for all of us!!!

Warrant Officer Ball and Distric pinewood derby

On Saturday, March 5th, David and I had the warrant officer ball and Michael had district pinewood derby.  This is where all the scouts from the area, as far away as Weisbaden (about an hour) get together.  The top four in each den in each pack gets to race.  Since Michael took first in his den he was eligible to race.

Michael checking in his car.

Getting ready for the big race!

Some of the cars in the "pit" area.

You can see that there were a lot of spectators there to watch.

AJ there to support his brother in the races!!!

Michael's car getting ready to race!!!

AJ and Michael have a celebratory lunch after the races.  He did great and had a lot of fun!!!

While the boys were enjoying their time back home, we were enjoying our time in Garmisch!!  we started out the morning by taking a wonderful run!!!  It was beautiful and we had a great time.  We then strolled around town, had some lunch, relaxed in the hot tub and then decided we should get ready for the ball.

David and I at the ball!!!  Don't we make such a handsome couple!!!

They did such a great job in decorating in the theme under the sea!!

We were both surprised as David was one of the Warrant Officers that was awarded the Order of the Rising Eagle bronze level.  It was a huge surprise and honor for David!  They give the  awards for those who go above and beyond in the warrant officer association.  I am so proud of my husband!!!

They had the jazz band playing while we were eating.  They were really great!!!

It was a wonderful evening!!  We danced, laughed and played in the snow a little.  It was starting to really snow hard!!  It was a perfect ending to a wonderful day!!!!

Bunco and Dr. Seuss Night

On Friday March  4th David and I headed to Garmisch for the Yearly Warrrant Officers ball.  We decided this year with all the activities the boys had, they would stay home with a babysitter.  David and I headed out in the morning.  We wanted to be able to take our time and relax on the drive there.

We were there early so we decided to enjoy a walk out in the beautiful country!!  It was Fantastic!!!

The mountains are beautiful, and only a little snow now.

This was our trail we started walking down.  So gorgeous!!!

That night was costume bunco night, so we put on our Oktoberfest gear and headed down.  We did really good the first few games and then we started losing.  So I told David we had to loose the rest of the night since there is a prize for biggest loser.  People thought I was hilarious because I wanted to loose!

It worked out!!  We were third to pick a prize and we got our first Tiffany's platter!!!  We had a great time laughing and just enjoying ourselves!!!!

I love that Hannah is joining in on the fun!!!!  She is the BEST babysitter!!!!  I think she beat Michael!!  :-)

While we were at bunco, the boys had their first engineering class and then headed straight to Dr. Seuss night at the school!!!  Here Michael is racing with his best friend with eggs on spoons.

AJ made a cookie and some goop!

AJ racing one of his best friends in the egg race!

Michael doing the number walk, trying to be clever and having feet on two numbers to see if he could win easier!!  Always thinking that boy is!!!

AJ playing twister with the guys!!

Michael is being chased by the Grinch now!!!  He will make sure Michael doesn't cheat!

The boys playing twister together!!  I LOVE those smiles!!!!

Now it is brother against brother!!!  You can see AJ is losing his egg during this picture!

I am not sure what happened here.  LOL

AJ doing hop scotch Dr. Seuss style  with rhyming words!!!

Michael showing off his hula hoop skills!

Look at those hops!!!!

What is Dr. Seuss night without green eggs and ham to finish the evening!!!!  They had such a great time and were so happy that we left them at home so they could do this!!!  Hannah is AWESOME and we all love her and knew she would take such good care of our boys!!!
