Austria Day 2

On Saturday March 26th, we woke up bright and early to get an early start on skiing!

This was our view first thing in the morning - isn't it beautiful!!!

And the other direction on our balcony.

So the weather is a bit crazy, this is what we were looking back at while we were heading up the gondola.  You can see that there is no sun anywhere here, yet.

AJ and Michael wanted to ride up with the other kids, so we had a nice chat with Kai and Petra on the way up!

Michael and David heading down the hill for their first run!!!  I am not sure if you can tell from this picture but there was soooooooooooo much powder!!!!!!!

AJ went ahead of us trying to stay up with the other kids, so just the three of us on the lift this time.

You can see all the snow on David and see his boots are gone in the snow!!  I haven't skied in such awesome powder for I don't know how long!

AJ finally decided to join us so the others could pick up the pace.  David and AJ boarding on down!

Michael taking a little break - he is doing so well with his turns and skiing in general!

The view from the top of the mountain!  Even with the cloud cover it was beautiful!

The other side of the view!

David working those edges of the board!!!  Talk about much improvement!!!

Here comes Michael - screaming down the hill!!!

Look at these guys!!!  Looking so comfortable on their boards!

You can start to see the blue sky coming out!

AJ taking a little well deserved break!

The four of us on the lift!!!  Thank goodness that David has long arms to get us all in!  Did I mention they are heated seats?!?!

The ski is starting to clear even more!!!!

This is the half pipe, first thing in the morning it was all powder with no tracks going down it.  It is amazing how fast the snow gets packed down.

Michael is enjoying himself so much and LOVES having poles now!

Look at that sky now!!!  It is crystal clear!!!!  It was great skiing in the morning even though there wasn't any sunshine, but bringing out the sun made it even better!!!!

Michael taking a rest before lunch, fully covered in snow!!!

Michael, Jan and AJ enjoying some much earned lunch!

The  view outside the window at lucnh!!!

I know there are a lot of pictures of the scenery, but it was just soooooooo beautiful!!!  God paints an awesome picture!

This is the outside of the lodge that we ate lunch at.

Look at how the clouds are hanging on the top of the mountains.

Aren't we cute?

So nice and peaceful up there!

This is our meeting spot at the top of the mountain - all waiting for the group to get together.

Either David is done or just enjoying the sun - you decide!

My two snowboarders!!!

Jan and AJ getting ready to head down the hill.

Michael and Lena heading down the half pipe!

Now you can see the bottom and there it is all green and grass, and up here is all snow and actually really warm because of the sun.

I love the river that we had to cross every morning to go skiing!!!

After we finished skiing for the day, Petra took us into a close town that is known for their glass blowing.  This was an amazing cave that they made with all types of glass.

They have people, upside down tables, flowers, so many different things.

It is a really cool "cave" in the middle of a huge store!

The sun was setting on another wonderful day!!!  We headed over to our friend's apartment to hang out for a little while, the kids played Uno while we chatted.  We didn't stay too late because we were going to loose an hour and we wanted to get an early start for skiing again tomorrow.

Austria and skiing!!!!

On Friday, March 25th, we headed down to Austria for some skiing with our friends.  They have been to this ski resort for years with their family and invited us to come along!  We were all extremely excited!!!

Our friends had been skiing all week, so we didn't even stop at the apartment first, we went straight for the hill.  We are riding up in the gondola to meet our friends.

David and Michael, aren't they cute?  Look behind them and see the green grass on the hills.

AJ and myself looking just as cute!!  You are now looking up the mountain - see all that wonderful snow?!?

We met up with our friends and are riding up the six passenger ski lift that has HEATED seats and a cover!!!  Yes, this is skiing in style!!!!

Michael was on the other side of me so I couldn't get him, so here we are heading up the lift!!!

Even though we only skied half a day, the boys were still pretty wiped out.  They are relaxing and watching some electronics.  It was a great day and it started to snow on us as we were finishing up our day.  Kay and Petra came over afterwards to hang out and chat!  It was a great first day!!!!

Raingutter Regatta

On April 20th, the boys had their pack meeting for scouts and it was time for the rain gutter regatta.

One thing different this year is that the bear den had to put on a carnival, so while some of the scouts were racing, the others were playing games.

The boys were racing cars down the tube to see which would fly the farthest.

This was an egg in the spoon race and I am not sure why Michael is throwing his up in the air.

I think he was trying to be tricky and throw it up and catch it.

Here they were racing on the bellies to see who could get to the wall and back the fastest.

AJ with his long legs went really fast!!!!

David was in charge of who raced who and making sure they were in the right lanes.  He was fantastic!!!

Michael and Gavin working hard to get their boats to the other end with all of their hot air!

Unfortunately only two wolves showed up, so they raced again and Michael won both times!

While Michael was racing, AJ was in throwing bean bags into targets.

And fishing, trying to get the most fish over.

Michael finished his racing and went to the ring toss.

Now it is AJ's turn to race.  He had a lot of hot air as well!!!!

His second round and using all of his hot air up!!  Ok maybe not because I am not sure if that is possible.  LOL

The boys getting their patches for racing.

Michael getting his trophy for first place!

After the race we headed home for some Easter egg coloring.  We haven't done it in a couple of years so the boys really wanted to do it, so I said yes.

The boys working on different colors and mixed colors.

I love Michael's expression in this photo.  The boys crack me up!!!

And the finished product!!  They look very colorful and beautiful!!!!
