Brussels

On Sunday we decided to head into Brussels via the train.  It is so much more relaxing to go by the train than driving and trying to fight traffic and find parking.  It was a nice lazy morning, getting up, having some breakfast and heading into town.

AJ under the chocolate elephant, okay not real chocolate, but that would be really cool.  It was in front of a chocolate store and Belgium chocolate is sure yummy!!!!

Isn't he so handsome?!?!  David with Brussels in the background.

This is the collegial church of St Michael and St Gudula.  It was started in the 13th century and took over 300 years to build.

Beautiful work, we didn't go inside at this time because of the four children, zero wanted to go inside to another church.

Our friends have been to Brussels many times so we were trying to find something that they haven't done before, Kellee found us the comic museum.  We thought it would be great!!!  With more than 700 comic strip authors, Belgium has more comic strip artists per square kilometer than any other country in the world!  Here the boys are with a smurf!!

Michael decided he was done with pictures, but AJ humored me!!  This is Walibi at his dog.  I guess pretty big over here in Europe.

Here AJ is with Tin Tin.

And there is Michael, laying under the rocket.  We didn't even make them go to Paris with us and here he is laying down.

I am thinking there might have been a cigarette in there at one time, but Kellee said he was trying to get a kiss.  :-)

Michael was really tired that day, luckily Daddy is very strong and didn't mind carrying him a little bit.

AJ - so handsome and looks so like his dad.

Michael and Joey looking down at the first floor.  The first floor was a little boring and a lot of history.  They also had some comics that we had to steer the boys by and not let them look.  They were pretty racey.

Of course the tv ones got them interested.

I told Michael he had to go and look in the hole - there were a few children playing over there.  But I just love the way this looks.

My favorite part of the whole museum - the smurfs!!!  They were originally made here in Europe and only brought to the US later.

Michael in the smurf house.  Actually all of the boys were in there, but you can't see them.

Here they had to find 8 things that didn't belong.  They did a good job.

Our great explorer!!!

I am not sure who this is, but he looks cool and has a sword!

What trip to Belgium wouldn't be complete without a Belgium waffle!!!  So yummy!!!!

David was doing a little beer shopping and a parade started coming through town.

We still have no idea what it was all about, but there were a lot of people in the parade.  It was pretty interesting!

After that we headed back to the train station.  We had a little time to kill so we bought the kids a snack and then David asked them to show their "lion" faces.  Here is Michael's!

And here is AJ's.  He looked down a little, but both had good lion faces!!!  We had a Fantastic time with our friends and always love visiting them!!  We can't wait till our next adventure with them!!!
