David working hard in the kitchen getting ready for the BBQ. He BBQ'd his wonderful ribs, made potato salad and we had sooooo much food there that it was unbelievable!
This was my American flag cookie pizza thing. It turned out pretty good. I had to make sure there were 50 blueberries and the right number of stripes! It was pretty tasty too.
David said he was only going to have "one" drink today, so he decided to break out his cougar mug! Feels like we were back at the ocean camping with my family! Good times, good memories!!!
Here Krista is trying to show the kids how to play blongo ball. Either that or she is just making sure all the kids don't throw them at each other since there are two golf balls connected by a rope that are a lot like ninja weapons.
Speaking of ninjas - they decided to show up at our BBQ along with Bobofet! The kids were having so much fun!!! They were running here, running there, swords, nerf guns, light sabers--you name it, they were playing it.
Serge was a good sport and put on the Optimus Prime mask!
The ninja AJ trying to make sure he could see before he jumped. Alex and Andre Bobofet backing him up!! Not sure who they were after, but they were going to get somebody!
So I was trying to make red, white and blue drinks for the kids. They were supposed to be layered. They didn't have the exact ingredients here in Germany (we are lacking a few normal items, but we get around it). So they kind of came out.
At least there was some red and blue and the cup was white!! The kids had fun mixing their own concoctions after that.
The boys, David and Victor, working on getting dinner ready! I love when somebody else cooks the main meal!!
The boys helping me with my concoctions.
The kids enjoying their yummy dinner!! We all snacked a bit before dinner so it was a little later to help settle our stomachs before more eating.
Our good friends enjoying dinner!!!
So after dinner the adults decided to play some blongo ball! Krista refused to play with me because she said I am too competitive and would put too much pressure on her and she didn't want to play with her sister for the same reason. So Kyla and Krista were on a team and Porche and I were on the other team. And of course who won?!? That would be Porche and I! :-) LOL It was a fun game with lots of comments from the peanut gallery which made it all the more hilarious. We had a running commentary from Serge for awhile! And of course there weren't any bad losers either...
David and Gracie enjoying the girls playing blongo ball!
This was Krista's answer to getting points. She said if she pointed at her target she could make it. Well that didn't work out too well. I just told her to have more wine. :-)
The boys decided that "normal" blongo ball wasn't fun anymore, so they decided to make it more challenging by going into our neighbors yard, up the hill, backwards, shot putting, and many more. It was quite comical!!
So Michael has been asking me for months and months if we can make our own ice cream. So I found a recipe on facebook and decided to try it. You have to shake it for about 8 minutes. Here they are shaking their ice cream. Krista looks really thrilled! I think she took turns shaking at least three kid's bags and was wondering at that point why I decided to do this.
And this one actually worked!!! We made our own vanilla ice cream!!! It was the right texture, taste, everything!! The big test was if Michael liked it because he can be picky on his vanilla ice cream, as we found out on our cruise. And he LOVED it!!!
AJ liked it also. I think he liked shaking the bag and trying to get people wet almost more than eating the ice cream though.
Sophie enjoying her ice cream!!!
Gabby cracking up or really enjoying her ice cream!!
Andre and Gracie decided it was pretty good too!!!
Alex digging in!!! One nice thing about this was easy clean up. They were all in Ziploc bags. One of the kids wanted to save their ice cream for later, so they put it in the fridge. It didn't quite make it for later, it was back to liquid when I found it the next day. ;-)
So after that we decided to have a fire!! Victor is working on getting it lit. We figured having cake and ice cream wasn't enough sugar for the kids, they needed to have smores too!! :-) Okay the kids didn't have cake, but they made up for it in marshmallows
We took the kids to the park next door to find good roasting sticks.
We were successful and here are the kids roasting their marshmallows!
After that the parents kicked backed and enjoyed the fire and company. It was such a wonderful afternoon, evening!! We had a great time, great food and great company!!! You couldn't ask for anymore. They did do fireworks on Ramstein, but it was late at night and we were all content to sit here and enjoy each others company. Like I said who needs fireworks to celebrate the fourth!!!
