There were local law enforcement there just in case. There were a lot of VIPs and dignitaries there from the US and France.
We were trying to keep the boys as dry as possible. It wasn't really easy since it kept down pouring.
AJ smiling even through the rain and cold. Though this was at the very beginning before the ceremony even started. :-)
The raising of the flags. We were trying to tell the boys what a ceremony like this truly means, but it was a little difficult because of the weather, the speakers didn't work so we couldn't hear anything and we were standing for almost an hour in pouring down rain. They just really wanted to leave by that point. I have to say I was ready to go too. It was the end of the weekend and we were all cold and tired.
Where all the VIPs were sitting.
There were a lot of people there - I was trying to get shots of some of the people.
These were in front of us and there was more behind us. I think most everybody showed up for this.
They had every pack and troop lay a wreath. It was a nice ceremony, just a little long. The VIPs really like to hear themselves talk I think sometimes. But it is an experience that we will never forgot. One that was great and such fun a great memories for everybody that went. After that we heading back to camp and packed up for the 10 hour bus ride home. The boys didn't sleep at all this time, but they were busy playing card games, etc with their friends which was really nice! We didn't get back to town until almost 11 pm. Everybody but David was able to sleep in the next morning, I just took the boys into school a little late. Though both teachers said the boys were walking in their sleep that day.
