AJ's field trip

On Friday May 29th, AJ's class and my class went on a field trip to the Nuenkirchen Zoo.  Unfortunately I had to stay with my class.  AJ could have walked with me and our pre-k class, but he wanted to stay with his class which I totally understood!!!  I also have to say after going to the zoo in Belgium, this one was a bit of a disappointment.

AJ hanging with his friends outside the zoo.

The elephants were hungry when we were there, they were eating away!

The snow leopards were hiding, bu we were able to see them.  :-)

This bear was pacing back and forth, it was like he couldn't make up his mind where he wanted to be.

I love the beautiful feathers on the peacocks!!!

This was one of the few animals that was active while we were there and he was so funny!!!  He was making faces and playing around.

Then he decided he wanted to swing back and forth, and climb around.

Then the mom came over and took over the fabric and wanted to just relax.  Well the little one wasn't going to have it, he started swinging her back and forth until she got off.

We took the kids to the seal show and it was pretty good.

Then we headed up to the bird show, we were told it was really good!!!  I was very excited to see that AJ was there.  He came over and sat with me during the show!!!

It turned out to be an awesome show.  You can see people ducking becuase the birds fly so close to the audience.

They fed the eagles baby chicks when they did things correctly.

Look at the wingspan on this one!!

They even had them getting their prey from the water.

At the end of the show, the kids were able to hold an owl.   You may think it is a baby one, but it is actually a full grown one.  AJ thought it was pretty cool!!!

This is Norbert, a European Griffon Vulture.   I really liked his name so I had to take a picture!!!

So as we were coming up on the giraffes we heard some really wierd noises.  These guys were going at it.  You can see here they are pushing against each other.

You can see the one on the left hitting the one on the right with his neck.  It went on and on.  It was loud.  I really have never seen anything quite like it.

When we went back by the peacocks he had his feathers out for us - so beautiful!!!

I love camels, maybe because they are such a different looking animal.

It was a small zoo, so I atleast passed AJ once during the afternoon.

This guy was just sitting there enjoying chewing on something.  He looked like an old crusty goat.

When I first saw this Australian Dingo I wasn't sure if it was alive or stuffed.  It was watching somebody cleaning their cage.  It was a good first field trip going as a teacher for me and AJ had a great time hanging with his friends!
