Heide Park

Friday after the fun field day, we headed North up towards Heide park.  It was a bit of a drive so we went half way and spent the night at a hotel.  Then in the morning we drove the rest of the way.  We were meeting up with Kai and Petra and family.  We were all very excited!!!  Especially the boys since it was amusement park all weekend!!!

This was the first ride we went on called Flight of the Demon.  It was fast, twirly and soooo much fun!!!  Michael wasn't able to ride a few rides in this park because he needed to be 140 cm and he is only 132.

This one is called Krake.  It is the most famous one in the park and the one that everybody comes for.  In the first picture you see the ride stop for about 5 seconds over the edge.  All you see is the drop that actually doesn't even go straight down, but goes backwards.  Then it is a free fall where you leave you stomach at the top and hope it catches up with you before you are done with the ride!

After Michael was so patient in waiting for us to finish the two rides, we headed for the Big Loop which is a roller coaster that he could ride!!!

Michael and I waiting to get on the Big Loop!!!!

The boys wanted to play with some remote control boats.

After that we wanted to go on one more ride that was 140 cm and up, so Michael stayed with David and did some rides he could do.  He loves his swings!!!

Up, up he goes!!!

David doesn't do these rides well, so he was able to take pictures for me.  Michael really enjoyed this one as it spun you around.

Michael cracks me up - look at him in the yellow shirt, arms crossed, basically saying this is nothing.  :-)

They had quite a few playgrounds in the park as well.

Of course we had to have some ice cream!!  AJ decided he wanted a slushy instead.

Michael playing chicken with AJ, who was coming down fast on the big slide!

Michael jumped onto Petra's back and she is such a good sport, she took him on a ride!

While waiting for his waffle, Michael was "cooking."

AJ relaxing and eating before he gets his waffle.  I don't think this kid is ever not hungry.

Michael wanted to go on a ride - so Petra said she would go with him!

My boys enjoying their waffles and crepes for the others!

Michael playing a shooting game.

AJ and  Jan took a turn.  What I didn't know is that every time you hit the target something would turn and shoot water at you.  So they kept shooting at the ones that would squirt water at the other.

For instance, when AJ hit the guy in the middle he turned his head and hit Jan.  When Jan hit the skunk it turned around and squirted AJ.  It was well worth the Euro to watch them!

Michael working on getting his drivers license, while the rest of us went on another roller coaster!

After a fun day in the park, we headed back to settle into our little bunk house!  It was a cute small, two bunk bed room.  It was great for one night!

AJ and I just relaxing in front of our cabin!

We headed over the restaurant for some dinner.  After dinner they opened up this cabana and there was a DJ inside.  AJ was enjoying the music!!!

The other cool thing, is that the kids could check out soccer balls, Frisbee, ping pong paddle and ball, etc.  It was such a fun evening, we just sat and talked, the kids played.  We were even entertained by some karaoke.  We finally called it a night and headed for bed.

The next morning, we went into the park a little early so we could hit the big rides first and not wait in a big line.  Again Michael was so patient waiting for us.  Then I sent AJ off with Petra and family to ride the big rides and I stayed with Michael and rode with him.  He wanted to take me up on the swings.

There was a couple rides that Michael needed an adult to ride with and David couldn't ride them so we did it together!   This one was actually pretty fun and took you upside down.

The boys riding on the elephants!!!

The crew having lunch!!!

After lunch the boys say this pirate boat ride and really wanted to go on it!!  One reason why, they get to shoot water at other people.

But Jan and Lena were able to shoot  back and everybody was getting wet!

Jan decided to join the boys in their protection of the ship.

And the dads decided to shoot back!!!  I think the kids got it worst!

The dads did get wet a little, but the kids came off the boat dripping wet!

So Michael went on the boat again before I could stop him, so of course David and AJ were going to shoot at him!!  :-)

This is called the Colossos.  It is actually in the Guinness book of World Records for the steepest wooden roller coaster, with a drop of 61 degrees.  You can see the drop in the background.

AJ, Jan and Lena before going on the Colossos.

AJ and I - we had such a great time riding all the big roller coasters.  Though he rode most of them with Jan.  It was a great amusement park and so much fun!!!!  We then headed home, but instead of a 5 hour drive, it turned into an 8 1/2 hour drive.  I totally forgot that it was a German holiday and everybody was heading home at the same time.  We were in a lot of Staus, but thankfully we made it home safely and survived the trip!
