Driving Range

On Saturday, September 26, I was judging the little kids karate tournament in the morning.  They were so cute!!!  It was a great time.  Then when I got home it was so nice outside that we wanted to do something outside and not stay in.  So we decided to go to the driving range.

David giving Michael a few tips before he starts to swing, though he didn't take a lot of it to heart.  :-)

AJ working on his swing and enjoying it!!!

Michael just doing his thing!

David decided he was going to hit a few balls as well!!

My boys golfing - this makes David very, very happy!!!

David trying out his new driver!!  He really, really likes it!!!

AJ decided he would like a little more information about the swing.

Even Michael was ready for a few more lessons!

All my boys swinging the club!!!  I even went and hit a few balls myself.  They weren't too bad either.  The boys did a great job and also had quite a few wonderful hits!!!  AJ was even able to see how they load the range ball vending machine.  He was super nice and told AJ lots of facts about it.  AJ was very interested in it!!  Michael came in time to see it at work as well!!  It was nice just to be outside and David was excited to use his new driver!

Rhine on Flames

I am sorry I haven't been on here much lately.  We have gotten into full swing back to school.  Now that I am working full time as a Sure Start aide we are keeping busy.  We have one to two things every night of the week from karate, hip hop, to scouts.  It has really cut into my traveling lately.  :-)  But that is OK because my family is coming soon and then we will be off again!!!

We did get in a little traveling, we headed over to our friend's place in Kaub.  They have the Rhine in Flames every September.  There are about three of them throughout the year.  We were so excited to get to see it!!!

Kay and David telling AJ he would have to walk the 10K to the next town to see the fireworks.  They were laying it on thick, but AJ still didn't believe them.  LOL

They already shut the town down, so we parked out here.  Luckily we arrived when we did if not we would have had over a mile to walk just to get into town.

The kids decided to take the scenic view into town.

They were a lot faster than we were!!

Here you can see the shadow of the castle on the right and the width of the river where the fireworks were going to be.

You can see how big this celebration is - there were RVs all up and down the river.

Here you can see them on the other side of the river as well.  It used to be a week long celebration, but now it is just a weekend one.

The kids made it to our friend's family's apartment first and were already up there making themselves at home.

David taking in the view - it was a gorgeous view!!!  We had some yummy German food while we were there homemade from scratch.  I can't remember the name of the dish, but it was yummy.

Jan and Michael heading down to the middle of town where we would watch the fireworks.

This is the boat with all the fireworks on it that was to be shot from the middle of the river.

Poor Michael really wasn't feeling good at all this weekend.  He had a bad sore throat, but he was such a trooper coming along.  I also think he was getting ready for a growth spurt.

He was much happier up on Daddy's shoulders!!

This is the castle that was across the river where more fireworks were going to come from.

They had a great band there that we enjoyed listening to while we were waiting for the fireworks to begin.

And of course there was somebody selling light up items and the boys had to have some!

Daddy enjoying his steak sandwhich!!!

There were many of these boats on the river.  I am not sure if you can see all the people on the boat, but there were a ton on each of them.

This was the castle on the side of the river that we were on were the third area of fireworks were to be.

Michael and Daddy playing light saber fights!!

Then the fireworks started with a bang!!!

With the fireworks going off in the middle of the river, you could feel them inside you, I was vibrating at my core.

They had all different types of fireworks that they were shooting off!!!

They were so beautiful!!!

They did a lot of blue and green - David said it was in honor of the Seahawks.

Next they started fireworks over the castle on our side of the river.

They had the castle still lit up with lights and fireworks.

Then the lights went down on the castle the fireworks went up!

Here you can see the castle lit up with the fireworks!!!

I know I have quite a few pictures of the fireworks, but they were so cool!!!

Then they went back to the middle of the river.

Then next on to the castle across the river!

Then the finale - They were doing fireworks at both castles at the same time!!!

Check out the waterfall they made out of fireworks!!!

Then one last time over the river!

They were getting so big that I couldn't even keep them in my camera lens!!  It was sooooooo awesome!!!  The fireworks went on for over 40 minutes!!!!  I don't think I have ever seen that much before and felt anything like it!!!  It was so cool!!!!  Then we headed back to Kaub and to my friend's parent's restaurant for some great wine and food to finish up the evening!!!  It was such a great time with great friends!!!!  We really enjoyed ourselves!!!!

Race for the Cure

On Sunday we decided to take the boys on 5K fun run Race for the Cure. The warrant officer association was putting together a team and it is for a good cause.

Where do I find the boys?!?  Yep in the tree.  AJ joined him shortly after I took this picture.

It was a really cold morning so we decided to head out and find some hot chocolate.  Unfortunately we didn't find any, but the boys had a great time climbing around.

The four of  us sporting our new shirts before the race!!!

The boys messing around on the dock before the race.

David decided he wanted to snatch AJ.

AJ didn't quite keep his legs straight but David was able to do it anyway!!!

All of us waiting to start the race.  There were thousands of people there.  I was a little worried that we might loose the kids.

AJ and I before the race!!

Michael and David heading for the finish line!!!!

Here are the four of us coming in for the finish line.  AJ and I are right behind David and Michael!

The boys were done after the 5K, it was a bit of whining and struggling to get them to complete it, but complete it they did and I was very proud of them!!  After that we headed to lunch with a few of the other people that we ran the race with.

And of course we need some ice cream!!!!  We found a little place on the way back to the car.  It turned out to be a beautiful day and it was good to get the boys out and moving.
