Batogne- Day 3 and Brussels

The next day, July 13th, we packed up our apartment and headed in for one more museum.  One of our favorite museums was in Bastogne and I wanted Mom and Dad to go through it.  We dropped them off there and then the boys and I headed to the Airborne Museum.

My little soldiers!!!  Well, not so little anymore and they are still growing way too fast!

One thing I liked about this museum was some of the pictures they had around.  It shows the soldiers where they were and how cold it was.

The boys enjoyed looking at the different weapons that was used during the war.

This is a picture of the army under mortar fire, medics rush to the aid of wounded GI and others seeking cover.  The US Army medics seem to be one of the most courageous men on the battlefield.

The boys next to a machine gun.

What is an airborne museum without a parachute!!!!  After the museum, we headed back to pick up Grandma and Grandpa.

As we were driving, we saw these pigs.  One is a pig museum and the other a pretty stained glass.  I had to take these pictures for my Grandma Dot because she collects pigs!!!!  We stopped for lunch before we headed down to Brussels.

We decided to stay in an old castle for our one night in Brussels.  Our room was HUGE!

Brussels is such a beautiful place that I wanted to take Mom and Dad down to the Grand Platz.

It was a beautiful day, with sunshine.  It poured on us while we were driving down, but the sun came out for us!

It is amazing all the statues on the buildings.  I can't even imagine all the time and people it took to carve these statues.  They were like this all over the building!

Mom and Dad enjoying a beer on the grand platz.  The boys had a cookie and drink from Starbucks right next door!

He is pointing the way we need to go.

This monument of Everard 't Serclaes is by Julien Dillens.  It was inaugurated in 1902.  It is said that you rub it for good luck and there were lot of people rubbing it that day!!!

What is Belgium without Belgium waffles?!?

This cartoon is painted on the side of the building.  They have them all over the city.  SO much fun!!

This is the first time that we have seen the Mannequin Piss with no clothes on.  I guess nobody wanted to pay for clothes this day.  I had to get the picture of Mom and Dad with it.  They were both sooooo excited (sarcastic tone here).  ;-)

And what did I say about waffles?!?  Oh yes had to get one for both the boys and had to have a taste of each  and they were yummy!!!!

Our view as we headed back to our hotel of the Grand Platz.  The buildings are beautiful!!

You can see how big it is and I think because of the rain this morning it wasn't nearly as busy as it usually is.  It made it really nice for us!!!

Dinner time and some card playing!!  It was a great place to eat, with good food and good company!!!

These trucks were outside the door of our hotel.  There were also fully armed military walking around as well.

So I thought this was really cool - each and every room had their own doorbell!!!  How cool is that?!?  I know it is the little things I love!!

At the end of the evening we played a round of hand and foot on AJ's bed.  It made a great table since we needed a little more room to play the game!  It was a nice day.
