Munich Day 3 - Oktoberfest

After David and the boys joined us, we had a great time playing games that night and enjoying each others company.

So on Sunday we headed on the train back into Munich Oktoberfest!!!!  David and I in our fest gear!!!!

Al and Julie ready to see what the real Oktoberfest is all about!!  After them having parties every year back in the states they can get to the first Oktoberfest!!!

The kids in their Oktoberfest gear.  The boys finally said they would dress up, but it was a bit too late so they had their hats.

Mom and Dad ready for the day, or maybe not, but here we go!!!!!

This was in the morning time and you can see how many people are coming up into Oktoberfest and this is nothing.  The stream of people is steady like this all day long and late into the night!!!  It is crazy!!!!

Our first look at Oktoberfest.  Unfortunately this was the only day of the weekend that it was overcast and started raining.  But we didn't let that dampen our day!

We told the kids that they could have two rides a piece (because they are soooooo expensive).  They all wanted to go on the swings so Kaitlyn, AJ, Michael, and Gabby are ready to go!!!  Michael is crazy without his coat and in shorts.  I was cold just looking at him.

Al and Julie - as you can see there is still space between people.  By night time that space is all gone.

Gabby and Michael heading up on the swings!

Not far behind are Kaitlyn and AJ.  AJ said he kept his hood zipped up so he wouldn't loose his glasses.

They go soooooo high up with these swings (about 300 meters up), I wouldn't be surprised if they could see all across the town up there!

They had all sorts of things there, even plays being put on.

The crew walking around Oktoberfest.

This was hilarious, he would say something in German and then spit water at you.  There were quite a few people that were shocked and surprised when the water came out.  It was hilarious!!!

This was their second ride of the day.  All four kids wanted to ride it and they LOVED it!!  It was their favorite ride!!

Mom and Dad waiting for the grand-kids to get off the ride.  Dad bought a great hat!!!

Dad wanted to take Mom on the Ferris wheel.  He is heading into the little house now.

Mom and Dad are up there somewhere - it is HUGE!!!

This is a birds eye view of the ride that the kids went on.

They said that they could see almost the whole city from up there!!!

This is the Bavaria statue which is a bronze sand-cast 19th century statue.  It was commissioned by Ludwig I, with the specific design being chosen by competition.  Because of its size it had to be produced in several parts; it is 60 ft 9 in high and weighs about 87.36 tons.

Al in two different beer tents.  One on the right is Paulaner.  Unfortunately I made a mistake and thought I had tickets into a beer tent in Munich, but I didn't.  Fortunately I have a very forgiving family.

So we sat in the outside of the Paulaner tent and they had a beer.  I really LOVE my family and how great they are!!!

The other half of the table!

Mom and Dad enjoying their beers - Prost!!!

Dad trying to pick up three of the 1 Liter beers.  He found out how heavy they are.

Gabby, AJ, Kaitlyn and Michael with their drinks!!  I think they were just happy to sit down for a little bit!

The kids were hungry so we bought two of these big pretzels.  AJ with his BIG smile!!!

Trying to stay together in the train station.

We decided to do a conga line through the square on our way to dinner.

Since we didn't eat at Oktoberfest, we headed back to the Hofbrau Haus.  Thankfully they had coat racks to put all of our coats and hats on.

Prost!!!!

I sure do love these kids!!  They are great sports and go with the flow!!  I think they also like the 1/2 Liter pop that they get to drink here as well!!

Dad being silly trying to eat the pretzel!!!  Love Mom's smile in this picture!!!

Mom, Dad and I enjoying our beverages!

I don't like beer, but I thought it would look better for the picture!  My honey and me!!!

Michael and Kaitlyn going head to head.  ;-)  I am not sure who is winning.

The kids working on being one of the wait staff.  Though I think it is much easier when they are empty then when they are full.  After a great meal we headed back to the train station.

The kids in their Oktoberfest gear in front of the Glockenspiel!

You can tell we aren't close to Oktoberfest since there aren't very many people around us.

On the way back Kaitlyn and AJ decided to take a nap, or at least pretend to.

What was missing from the day - you guessed it ice cream!!!  We stopped at our place again for some yummy ice cream!!!  It was a great way to end a fun day!!!
