Easter - He has Risen

On Easter we sprung forward an hour.  Now I have to say my boys are normally up at 6 am on the weekends, not on the weekdays.  At about 8 AM AJ comes upstairs and says he has a headache, he also told me Michael wasn't up yet, which was very curious.  He hasn't been getting a lot of sleep lately.  So AJ cuddles with me and goes back to sleep.  About 9:15 AJ wakes up again and we go downstairs and Michael is still asleep.  So finally about 10 am we go and wake David up so the boys can find out what the Easter bunny brought them.  I had stalled them as long as I could.

We grew some grass for the Easter bunny and the Easter bunny left a big egg in it for them!  They were very excited!!!

They both started hunting for eggs, AJ was really into it and as you can see here Michael just saw the baskets from the Easter bunny.....

And was totally distracted.  He was trying to show AJ what they had, but AJ was still all about finding the eggs!

So then Michael started looking for the eggs again.  They had a lot of fun!!!

AJ excited about his chocolate bunny!!

The boys received a small i-pod and Michael LOVES to dance and instantly started showing us his groove!!!

AJ joined in the fun!!!  They even let me have one of the ear pieces to dance with them!!  I am so glad they love music so much!  After that we were heading over to some wonderful friend's house for Easter dinner.  They have three beautiful children and the older two are the same ages as AJ and Michael.  Porchea found a wonderful craft on Pintrest to show the kids a real hands on about Jesus raising from the grave.

Here the marshmallow represents Jesus because he is pure.

Then they dipped Jesus in butter which represents the oil that they anointed his body with.

After that they rolled it in cinnamon and sugar which represents the spices that they put on the body.

Then they wrapped Jesus up in a crescent which signifies the tomb he was buried in.

Jesus is completely sealed in the crescent like he was sealed in the tomb.  Then we baked them in the oven.

When the kids opened them up - the marshmallow was gone just like Jesus was gone from the tomb.  It was a really great, hands on, way to show the kids about the real reason of Easter.  And it was a yummy treat also.  After that we had an egg hunt in their back yard.

AJ running around looking for eggs, each one of them had a special egg with their name on it that they had to find.

We also made confetti eggs, this is a first for me, but won't be the last!  This was Michael's favorite part!!  Once you found one you could smash it on any body's head.  Here is Michael getting AJ with one!

AJ's turn to get Michael.  And don't worry David and I both got egged!!  I just had the camera so oh darn, couldn't get a picture.

Luckily it was nice enough in the afternoon (it did snow in the morning) that they jumped on the trampoline.  Look at the air AJ got on this one!!!

Here is Michael getting some air!!

AJ and Daddy giggling together!!  Boy do I love that sound!!!

Of course the boys have to beat up Daddy!

The two of us enjoying a wonderful Easter with family and great friends!!!  We really had a wonderful time and sooooo much food!!  I think that we had enough for six families or more instead of the three that were there.  :-)  But it makes for great left overs!!!  All in all it was a great Easter!!!

So you won't be hearing from me for awhile.  We are heading to Ireland early Friday morning and will be gone for a week.  But be sure to tune in after that because I am sure I will have plenty of posts about our fun and exciting trip!!!

And on a side note - it is still snowing here.  This morning there were flakes coming down - not a lot, but it is April 3rd and we are very ready for warmer weather!!
