Space Derby

We had a very busy weekend, but a very fun one!!  The weather has been wonderful, sunshine and even warm!  On Friday night we had a wonderful dinner at Milano's with some fantastic friends!!  Then on Saturday we went to the parent's meeting for baseball and guess who is roped into coaching again?  Yep that is right, me.  Michael's team didn't have a coach and nobody would step up and with David starting a new job with a bit of a commute we weren't sure if he can make it back in time for practice.  Then on to a birthday party and then a BBQ that night where we played over three hours of a basketball game called Bump.  Then on Sunday we had a little time so we headed to the park for a bit.  We had a couple of house guests for the weekend and they were great house guests and went along with all that we did!

Then we were off to the Space Derby.  This was the first one we have been a part of so we had to do a couple of last minute alterations, well David had to do them  :-)  And can I tell you how happy I was he made it home to help AJ build this because I really had no idea.

AJ with his finished rocket before the race.

The wolves had flag duty and AJ was honored to carry the American flag into the meeting.

The wolves getting their rockets for the big race!!

This is the contraption that they flew their rockets on.

AJ had to spin his propeller 75 times to get it ready.  There are rubber bands on the inside of the rocket that gets twisted and makes it go.

And off they go!!!

They had different stations in there also.  Micheal was able to get in on the action also.  They were throwing a bean bag at the target and AJ walked by with a "flying saucer" trying to block the throw.

Next they made their own flying saucers!!  Both boys really enjoyed this and took a lot of time making them!

Snack station!  I told AJ to say cheese while he was holding his cheese!  LOL

Carissa and David were giving me a hand cleaning up!

AJ did so well that he took 2nd place in his den!  He took first place in the kids made ones, the one that beat him was made by a dad from start to finish.

AJ with his second place medal!  We are so proud of him and all the wonderful work he has done not only with the space derby and all his scout stuff!  It was a great way to end the weekend!!!
