Black Forest - Day 2

On Monday, July 4th, we headed out in the morning to check out the German Clock Museum.  We figured since it is the area of the most famous cuckoo clocks, we should learn a little more about them.

It was their 100 year anniversary.  The German Clock Museum traces the development of clocks from Medieval times to the state-of-the-art today.  The 150-year-old collection of Black Forest Clocks is the most extensive of its kind in the world.

Dad checking out some of the cool old clocks!

The boys were excited because they had a puzzle to solve, they had to find all different kinds of clocks and figure out the secret word.

This was one of the first clocks that had weights to help keep the clock going.

I think it is neat looking when they mechanisms are on the outside of the clock.

They were saying that Stonehenge is a type of a clock.

This is the Hans-Lang-Clock, an astronomical clock.  It is a 20th century, one of a kind, astronomical clock.

They had all sorts of clocks, including this one with a giraffe on top.  This was one of the boys' clues.

Then we arrived at the cuckoo clock area.  Most of these are made in the 18th and 19th centuries.

This is one of the first digital clocks!

This is a musical clock - I am not sure if it would fit into my home.  :-)

They also have a whole slew of pocket watches.  There were some neat ones that were made just for women.

My boys being clocks - they are so cute!!!

Dad helping the boys finish their puzzle.  He was sitting in front of the last clue, an old punch clock.

They also had some fabulous old player musical instruments.  I would have loved to hear them play!!

Outside they had a sun clock - we were trying to figure out how it worked.  It was very intricate.  Thankfully it was a sunny day so we could see were the shadows were.

After that we headed down to the largest waterfall in Germany.

My boys are soooo handsome!!  They even find good places for me to take pictures!!

The family walking down the path to the waterfall.

AJ saw these flowers and loved how they look!!  I did too, so beautiful!!!!

Our first view of the waterfall, it is so beautiful!

Michael being my climber, if there is someplace off the beaten path, there is Michael!!.

I do love waterfalls and how beautiful they are!!!

Grandma and Michael enjoying the view!!!

Some of the beautiful wildlife of the area.

My boys and me!!!

Michael and AJ wanted a picture by this tree where they climbed up!

Super hero pose!!!!

Grandma and the boys playing a little cards at lunch!

We had some yummy pizza for lunch!!

After lunch, Grandma, Michael and myself heading up to see a little more of the waterfall.

Michael standing in the same place three and a half years later.  We were here after Christmas 2012.  Though it was a lot warmer this time!

A look back into the town of Triberg.

Such a beautiful area, I love all the flowers around the town!!!

This is the largest cuckoo clock in Germany!

After trying to find the Fun Forest and driving around, we finally found it!!!  We are geared up and ready to go!

The boys were very excited about going on the ropes course!

This was the start to all the different routes that we could take.  And up they go!!!

Michael and AJ heading across the bridges.

We had to wait for some people to go in front of us, so time for a selfie up high!!!

Heading across a long bridge.  Michael  was just tall enough to grab the rope on top.

Zip line time!!!  I think this was their favorite part!!!

Look at those smiles!!!  Happy to be up high, climbing and monkeying around!!!

This was a high zip line, I was getting a little nervous climbing up some of it.  It was such a fun day from the clock museum, to the waterfall and ending it with the Fun Forest!!  We headed back for dinner at the apartment and some more games with the family!
